Ruby's Wetland Bank

Ruby's Wetland Bank Credits will become available in December of 2009.

Engineered drawings and descriptions of what is about to happen will follow in this blog.

Less than 100 years ago, the land was pristine and unplowed. The local ditch authority made the decision to tile the county in order to increase the taxable acre base and to encourage farmers to move into the county and to farm lands that were now drained or nearly drained wetlands.

The wetlands on Ruby's Farm were tiled to extinction in the 1970's.

Today, plans are being made to reestablish the three basins that once were on the farm.

In the future, native wetland plant varieties and upland plant varieties will be replanted to allow the wetland and prairie to be reestablished.

We will be bringing nature back to Ruby's Farm.

Speed likes to go boating.

When Speed was a puppy we went on a fishing trip to Leech Lake Minnesota. She looked cool in her puppy preserver.

Ruby Wetland Banking Project

Ruby's Wetland Banking Project was approved in December. It may be built in October 2009.

It will be built on the family farm in southwest Minnesota near Big Spirit Lake.

The T-bone shape wetland and the one above it represent what the government believes the Ruby farm looked like prior to settlement.

Dan likes to hunt and fish

Dear Hunting in Wisconsin

Dan came prepared on his dear hunting trip. Looks like he's legal.

In July, Janeen came to Rubys Farm for a visit. She brought her two dogs Sam and Pepper.

Dan hosted a picnic at the farm for the nearby Ruby's. We rode the atv and went boating.

Dan and Janeen were married on November 29th, 2008 in Arlington, Wisconsin.
